So, it's Friday. Does that make any difference to me?? Nope!! It used to at once upon a time!! :)
Let's see, what's new??? Well, the cutest thing ever happened the other night. Aliyah wanted to lay down with Brooke and put her to sleep. She told me to "Shhhhh, go mom, I put Brooke to sleep" and so I asked her to hold her hand gently. She did. She curled up beside Brooke and held her little hand as she laid there silently. I was going out of the room and took a couple of minutes to take it all in.... well that wasn't a good idea cause I got little tears in my eyes of pure joy. What a feeling! It was soooo cute!!! Then it turned into horror!!! I went downstairs to stir supper. I didn't hear anything going on upstairs so I thought everything was good! Aliyah comes sauntering downstairs and said "Mommy, I hide Brooke!!" I said "What??" Her response was "With pillows!!" with a big smile on her face. I ran upstairs as fast as I possibly could and heard a muffled cry under 4 huge king size pillows on top. I freaked out! I explained to Aliyah that she couldn't breathe and not to ever do that again. She started crying and said "I just wanted to hide Brooke Mom"
The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

House Repair!
Finally!! We got a few things accomplished around the house. I painted the entryway outside and the front eve... it looks so much better!! Kenny got the fence door fixed and so now it finally works! He also got most of the shower just about ripped out for it to be gyprocked again. We're going to make it into a closet.
Aliyah helped Kenny with dishes yesterday. I asked her if she was going to like doing dishes when she gets bigger. She looked up at Kenny and said "Daddy, when I get bigger, I'm going to like doing dishes" I just wanted to document this to show her when she gets in her teenage years so that she won't go back on her word. ;)
Julia came over for a visit today and played with Aliyah. Aliyah just loves her company!! I sometimes think that she gets bored and wants to do something or play with someone. Speak of the little one, I hear that she's up right now.... time to go !!

The Things Children Do!
Ok, so maybe I shouldn't be writing this but I'm going to go against my better judgement and do it! Did I say that Aliyah is potty trained now? Fully! She goes to the washroom by herself and everything (as long as the light is on). Well, I didn't know that she had a good ol'poop. She was downstairs watching Tv on her blanket and I noticed her picking her bum. WELL! I asked her what she was doing.... all of a sudden she points her finger up in the air with a little ball of poop on it. She starts coming towards me with this little evil grin on her face saying "Borrow hole, borrow hole, don't know where" (It's a little tickling game that we play) As hard as it was, I did keep a straight face!! I told her to go upstairs and wash her hands in a stern voice. Well she laughed all the way up the stairs and as soon as she got in the washroom, I joined her in the laughing.
On the cute side of things, she wanted me to lay down with her when she went to sleep (that's nothing new). I turned over to the wall and she doesn't like that. She said to me "But Mommy, I want to cuddle with you". It was about 5 minutes later that I felt this body sprawling over me to get on the front side of me so that I could cuddle her. Those types of things are the best feeling in the world.

All dressed up and no where to go!
Aliyah had a good day today. She was a very good girl. She let her sister, Brooke
play with all of her toys and layed down beside her on the floor. I cannot for the life of me keep this girl inside!! Everytime I go out the door, there is Aliyah right behind me... doesn't matter if she's as naked as a jay bird...she's there!
Aliyah has been going through the Sears Wish Book and circling everything she wants Santa to bring her this year. So far, she says that she wants Santa to bring her: Bubbles, Christmas Trees and Tigger's. I'm sure that Santa will end up finding these for her! :) I have to keep telling her that Santa comes when the snow gets here. Her response is "Well let's go find the snow and then we'll find Santa!!" I think it's cute :)
Brooke has not slept hardly at all today. She only power naps for about 10 - 15 minutes. Thankfully she sleeps through most of the night.
I'm tired, gotta go watch Deal or No Deal!

STUCK!
It's a first!! Aliyah got stuck!! Where you may ask? Well, she was sitting on her chair in front of the TV eating some bacon and I hear "Mommy, my feet are stuck!" I look over and see that she had both of her legs in the runner of a chair. Doesn't sound bad does it? Well, when I went to take them out, her feet would NOT come out of the chair whatsoever. She cried and wouldn't let me touch her. So what did I have to do? SAW THE RUNNER OFF WITH A HAND SAW! Grrr. You should have seen me trying to set her on my knee and saw this thing off... it was quite a site. Her feet were more important than the chair. I asked her if she was ever going to put her feet in anything like that again and her response with puppy dog eyes was "No Mommy".

10 Things About Brooke
I thought I would write 10 things about my 2 little girls. Starting with the youngest, Brooke. In her 5 1/2 months this is what she has shown me so far:
1. I like having my hands held when I go to sleep or my back rubbed.
2. I like sleeping on my side or my belly....hardly ever my back!
3. I smile constantly when my big sister Aliyah walks by me.
4. My hands are forever in my mouth, chopping away!
5. I can sit up and have been able to since I just turned 5 months old.
6. I don't have a birthmark (unless the strands of blonde hair on the top of my head is counted as one!)
7. I love animals and watching them walk around.
8. I like sitting in my excersaucer and taking everything all in.
9. I'm just starting to like to watch TV
10. I'm at the stage when I'm exploring more and more. Scooting around a bit and trying to grasp things out of my reach!

Bouncy Bouncy Baby!
It was Brooke's first bounce in her jolly jumper!! She absolutely loves it! When Kenny took her out of it, she cried so hard that it was heartbreaking. He ended up putting her back in and letting her jump for awhile longer. She supports herself very well and turns around in circles. Kenny takes her around the house on the jumper and she loves that too! Brooke's hand is constantly in her mouth with her shirt absolutely soaken wet! I can't believe that those 2 little toothem's on the bottom haven't come in yet. Aliyah was this age when her's came in. I can't believe that Brooke is almost 6 months old now. Which means, I'll be going back to work soon too! YUCK! I'm not looking forward to leaving my girls home.... (sigh).
Well, goin to Home Depot to pick up some stuff to fix the house with!

First Hair Cut!!!
We finally did it!!! We cut Aliyah's hair today for the very first time in her life! I cut while Kenny held her (not that she needed it) My little girl now has bangs!! It was cute because she kept taking the little strands that were falling down and putting them back on her head. She had a huge smile on her face when she first looked in the mirror. Did we keep a locket from her hair? OF COURSE WE DID! Are you crazy? I have kept all of her firsts. She looks so cute! I took a bunch of pictures :)
Brooke was a good little baby today :) She loves watching Buddy (The cat) walk around along with Snoopy. She gets bouncing up and down in her excersaucer whenever they come around. She had lots of smiles for me today. I love playing with her when she firsts wakes up. She is crying out loud until she sees me walk in the room and then she gives me an instant smile and then her legs and arms get flapping around because she's so excited.
Kenny made roast today, it was yummy. I've done about 5 loads of laundry today just trying to get caught up! Snoopy got shaved today for the last time before winter. He looks cute. He's doing so well around the house! He hasn't made a mess... it's amazing. He gets full rein of the house now and when he is let outside, he doesn't run away anymore! He just hangs around the house and in the driveway. I still think that he's a little lonely though. I wonder how Tux is doing (Sigh).
Well, it's passed 10 p.m. and my little stinker is sitting on my knee. Tried putting her to bed already and she wondered downstairs. It doesn't help that she had a late nap and Kenny actually had to wake her up at 6 p.m. this evening. She went to bed good for me last night at 9 p.m. I fell asleep too at that time which is very unlike me!
Anyway, here we go to try attempt to put her back to bed. Brooke is fast asleep and has been since 8 p.m. She's such a good little girl :)

It was a good time!
Our visit with Anthony, Barb and Alanna was good!! We really enjoyed ourselves. Aliyah became an instant celebrity on the mike with Alanna! They sang, Hakunamatatta. Anthony video taped it and it turned out sooo cute!! It's something that we can show them when they get older and they will certainly get a kick out of it. Alanna is so good with Aliyah. Although Alanna is almost 8 years old and Aliyah is 2 1/2 she plays with her and tries to teach her new things. We played an entire game of "Go Fish" for the first time.
We went to the Country Music Awards, leaving the children for Anthony to babysit. The concert was good but I wouldn't go again unless I was able to get a seat close on the floor. We couldn't really see anything where we were sitting in the back of the stadium. When Terry Clark won her "Fan" award, I hollered out "WE LOVE YOU TERRY!!". I haven't watched it yet to see if you can hear me in the crowd, probably not! All in all, it was a good time.
Anthony was a good host and I enjoyed spending the time with him and the family.

Country Music, Here we come!
We're heading down to Saint John today to spend a couple of days with my brother, Anthony and his family. On Monday night, we're going to be going to the Canadian Country Music Awards at Harbor Station. Although we're going to be at the very back of the building, I'm sure that we will still enjoy it!! It's my first ever televised event!! :) Be on the watch for us!!
Thank goodness we're going down to Anthony's because my daughter has been asking for her uncle for about a week now. She gets upset when she can't go and see him. She says that she's going to say "Nana nana boo boo" to him. She wants to be tickled I guess ;)
My friend Calli is going to come over and walk Snoopy for us....what a great friend she is!! No really!! She is one of the best friends anyone could ever want! (Not only for the dog walking but for many other things in life!)
Well, we gotta go get ready now.... lots of stuff to gather up, especially with 2 kids!

Tiggers are a wonderful thing!

Well my daughter, Aliyah has now found herself a best friend. Yes, that's right. It's TIGGER!
We went to a few yard sales a couple of weeks ago and she was on the search for Tigger. When I mean search, I mean she would get out at each yard sale and look around for him. When she got back in the car she would say "Mommy, I can't find no Tiggers, maybe at the next yard sale." We were almost out of luck until one of our last stops. There he sit, in a big pile of other lonely animals. Tigger. She scooped him up and was happy. From that point on, she couldn't go anywhere without her Tigger. She sleeps with him, sits with him, talks to him. I can hardly peel her away from it! Well, we went to yard sales again today and guess what!! We found lots of tiggers!! So now, my little girl has about 6 stuffed tiggers and a few other 'tigger things' like a tigger scarf that actually has his head at each end. Wonder how long this will last?

Oh Brother!!
We've been trying to fix up the house!! How far do we get you might ask? NOT FAR AT ALL! Have you ever tried doing fix'er uppers when you have a 5 month old and a 2 1/2 year old? If you haven't well let me tell you that not too many things get accomplished! We started painting the outside of the house and so far what is done looks really good.
Brooke has been sick with a very bad cold this past week and is just starting to get over it somewhat. She was the last one to get it. The poor little thing wakes up all stuffy and can hardly breathe. I hate it when my kids are sick....
Well, tonight Kenny and I watched Big Brother All Stars and I have to say I'm a bit dissapointed!! I thought for sure that Janelle and Erika would be the final 2! But oooh noooo, Boogie had to get the Head of Household. Granted it was a smart move on his part to get rid of Janelle because she definately would have won the game! Ah well, I think Boogie is the one who is going to win the bucks now. I don't think that Erika has a chance! I've been known to be wrong in the past though!
Kenny is taking his turn in sleeping with Brooke tonight. YES, we sleep with her!! We said that we were not going to when she was still in the womb but ya know how that goes! Aliyah sleeps in her bed well that is until she wakes up in the middle of the night screaming for one of us to go sleep with her. Most times, we just go to sleep with her from the start so that we could get a half way decent sleep and not have to be woken up in the middle of the night. SOMEDAY - we will have them both sleeping in their beds, by themselves! Good thing that we have a king size bed!!
It's late, well not really but late for me! Time for sleep.

Exhibition. It was a fun day!
Sunday, we took the girls to the exhibition. Aliyah absolutely loved the rides! She got on the cars, train, horsey merry go round and the giant slide (with Kenny of course). She also got on the pony rides, twice! She went on the first time with someone standing along side of her and then the second time, she rode them around all by herself. My baby is growing up!! Brooke was fantastic! The only ride she got on was driving around in the stroller. Next year - Maybe :)
Aliyah also liked going in the barns and looking at all of the animals. She had a long day since we were there for 5 hours. I took lots of pictures. She got on the rides with Julia (her cousin). I'm thinking about taking her back again.:)

52. I have few true friends in life - but the ones I do have are worth more than anything that I could ever dream of.
53. I've been at the same job for going on 7 years - I don't know where the time has gone!
54. My first new car was a red Sunfire - it was a pretty good car but would never own one again.
55. I now have a Hyundai Santa Fe - love it!
56. I started a written journal for Aliyah prior to Brooke being born - sad to say that I haven't written in it since. I want to have one for each of my kids for when they grow up.
57. I grew up close to my 2 cousins and usually played either kick the can, hopscotch, TV tag, Hide and Go seek, Soccer Base or cucumber fights (they grew on a vine all around my Grammy's house and boy do they hurt when you get hit!)
58. A childhood memory that I have was going to the post office for my Gram and finding this thing on the road that I took home with me. I was so excited to show Gram! I walked into the house and showed her this tube wrapped in white paper (thinking that it was worth money or something I guess). Grammy told me to throw it out in a grossed out voice. Come to find out, it was nothing but a tampon. Ah well!
59. I'm a leader, not a follower
60. My first instincts are usually the right ones but tend to second guess myself and go against them. Why oh why!!
61. I'm a smoker - don't want to be but I guess I'm not ready to quit yet.
62. Smokers stink.
63. I love banana bread with butter smeared across it ...mmmmm... I'm hungry!!
64. I am thankful that I have healthy children.
65. Hate walking in the rain - haven't done it since I was a kid. However, I do love laying around the house with a warm fire going when it's raining.
66. My brother and I used to fist fight when we were younger - no holding back! He used to terrorize me and now we can laugh about it. (well him more than me ;)
67. I can eat breakfast anytime of the day or night. It's my favorite meal of the day. Did I mention that I was hungry?
68. I'm allergic to metal - can only wear gold or else I break out.
69. I love showing my daughters affection - giving them all kinds of kisses and hugs, etc - showing them that I love them no matter what!
70. I don't like spiders, ants, june bugs, or any other insect.
71. I chose Aliyah's name by watching the David Letterman show - he had a little girl on his show doing some sort of trick and her name was Aliyah - I loved the name!
72. I chose Brooke's name from a book - how original is that!
73. I have always wanted to get my teeth whitened but have been somewhat afraid that they would turn out like Ross's did on Friends.
74. I can't read any books while laying in bed or else by the first page, I fall asleep.
75. I would like to see a Broadway play someday!

100 Things Cont....
26. I have a Shihtzu named Snoopy
27. When I was a kid, the cartoon that I watched the most would probably be The Bugs Bunny & Tweey Show
28. I've had my hair long for the majority of my life and just had it all cut off short last week. It's quite a change!
29. I love to be comfortable around the house. Whenever I'm done work I strip off and get into comfy clothes as soon as I walk in the door.
30. I love wood heat vs. any other heat! There's something about hearing the crackling of wood in the fireplace.
31. My pet peeve is while going through the line at a store and the cashier asks "Could you find everything that you were looking for?" And you reply "No, actually I was looking for...." and the response is "Oh" or "I'm sorry" then they continue on.....what's the point????
32. During my lifetime there were 2 professions that I wanted to pursue. 1) Physical Education Teacher or Photography. Here I am, a supervisor at a Contact Center....where did that come from?
33. I really don't like talking on the phone that much - spent many hours on it when I was a teenager and I guess got sick of it after that!
34. I chew the side of my mouth!?!?! I don't know how that got started but I find myself doing it all of the time.... either habit or nerves, don't know which!
35. I don't have a birth mark! What's up with that? I thought pretty much everyone had one type of birth mark or another.
36. I love my husband very deeply but probably don't tell him often enough - in fact I know I don't tell him enough. I shouldn't let time slip by!
37. I sleep on my side or my belly and never on my back.
38. I had to have a blood transfusion after I had my second baby (scared me to death!)

41. Scented candles are the best! I love burning Yankee Candles.
42. I prefer showers over baths - can't relax in a bath as most people can, I wither up like a prune.
43. I don't wear make up that often - always used to when I was in my early twenty's but then just started going with the 'o' natural look.
44. Ok... I'll admit it - I'm a Bingo Addict. It relaxes me and although I hardly ever win I do enjoy going and getting out of the house. That's the only thing I really do other than things at home.
45. I've been to New York City (Manhattan), Boston, Toronto, Halifax, and PEI. I would like to visit Calgary and Vancouver one day as well as Florida.
46. I hate shaving my legs.
47. I used to design websites and thought about starting my own business back in the day.
48. Favorite Colors: Brown, Red, or Black
49. Doing this list is more hard than I ever thought it would be!!
50. I usually finish what I set out to accomplish, depending on the task, it may take me longer than others to complete it but I DO finish it in the end.
WOW! Only another 50 to go! I would recommend this to anyone! It's definately a challenge to do believe it or not.

3. We've lived in our house for 4 years now - alot has happened in that time frame!
4. I like cucumber sandwiches (where did that come from???) - I must be hungry
5. I'm quite emotional - people don't seem to think that I'm this type of person, but I DO have a soft heart!

7. I love shopping on E-Bay!! (Kenny doesn't like it so much! hehe)
8. I loved being called "Mommy" although sometimes it can be draining when it's said 10 times in a row! (Does that mean that I'm not paying attention??)
9. I don't mind doing laundry - but I absolutely HATE putting it away!! - hence the piles of clothes in my bedroom!

16. I played every sport in school - won 3 athlete of the year awards.
17. I was in a car accident - rear ended in 1998 - I still have back and neck problems because of it.

He is gone to a good home......
Well, we finally did it. We placed an ad in the paper for a good home for our Shihtzu Tux, Slammer and Buddy (Our cats). We had probably 50 calls for Tux and a couple of calls for the cats. We gave Slammer to an older woman who lives out in the country, that was hard to do! Then we went out to Lincoln to see a woman who wanted Tux. Although it was very difficult to do, we let him stay with her. She seems like a very loving lady. She said that she can't have children of her own and looks at her animals as her children. I held it together (well almost) until we got in the car to leave. Then I totally lost it! I have to keep telling myself that it's the best thing and that he will have so much more attention than we could ever give him. We didn't have time to spend with the animals and the guilt was overwhelming. With 2 little children, it was just impossible for us. Aliyah asked where Tux was last night and Kenny told her that he was with a man, she was ok with that (for now). I'm sure that we will be getting more questions about him. You see, she loved him so much. She played with him the most and spent many hours laughing while she ran around with him. Guess I have to talk about this later, because I'm starting to get choked up again. I love you Tux (sigh).

And so it begins!
My 2 little daughters are absolutely amazing! I love them dearly and don't know what I ever did without them. My 2 1/2 year old tends to say things to amaze me everyday. She is in the "Why Mommy?" stage. Her curiosity gets the best of her. When Brooke was first born, Aliyah was very happy to have her new little sister. When Brooke came home, for the first little while, Aliyah was intrigued by her. It wasn't until Brooke was about a month and a half old that Aliyah would come up with her famous words with a stern look on her face "No BROOKE, DON'T LOOK AT ME!!". When Brooke turned 4 months old, Aliyah must have came to the conclusion that Brooke wasn't going anywhere so she had to learn to love her :) She now plays with her and takes good care of her. She shares her toys (well most of them), helps feed her and the cutest is giving her kisses! Brooke has this smile that she gives Aliyah everytime she sees her come near. I'm sure that will change in the future at one point or another but for now, it's the cutest thing ever! Brooke is 5 months old now and is starting to creep. She can already sit up and is playing with her toys with her little precious fingers. We started her on her cereal and will soon begin the strained foods. I'm looking forward to her "firsts" when it comes to food and capture all of her sour looks on her face. Brooke is a fantastic little baby. She sleeps from 8 p.m. usually until 7 or 8 a.m. each night. Trust me, I'm not complaining!! Aliyah on the other hand, usually stays up until around 10 p.m. and gets up at 8 a.m. She sleeps in her own bed but wants her Mommy or Daddy to sleep with her EVERY night. If we're not there, she will do 1 of 2 things. Scream at 3 a.m. wanting one of us to go in and lay down with her or 2, quietly saunter into our room and crawl in bed with us. (Shhh, Don't tell Kenny but I don't mind!!) I just love snuggling with my girls. I know that they are safe and not to mention, they are like my little heating pads :) I could go on forever but for now, I'm exhausted and need sleep! Until next time!
My First Ever BLOG!
Well, here I am. It's September 1st, 2006 and who would have thought that I would be starting my very own BLOG! My friend, Jolene has inspired me to do this. I thought that this would be a fantastic way of journaling about my daughters and hey, maybe I will be brave and jot a few things down about myself :) I have so much to write. So let the games begin!
